Jefferson was born in Virginia, his mother and father both lived their lives doing what they liked. He was born on a plantation and he was surrounded by slavery. With this being said, Jefferson did not agree at all with what his parents believed. Jefferson had believed that slavery was wrong and that it was an unnecessary ordeal. However, he also believed that when slaves have been set free, they should be sent back. Also, he believed that “white Americans and enslaved blacks constituted two “separate nations” who could not live together peacefully in the same country.” Along with this idea, blacks were racially inferior and as incapable as children…” he completely agreed with the idea of slavery as long as they are not free living in the New World. However, when it comes to the main ultimatum, it is either be a slave in America and live in America, or be free and be deported back to Africa. – Thomas Jefferson’s views on Slavery.
